2 SPOTS AVAILABLE (for the 2022-2023 Academic Year)

Please check the schedule for time slots, and get in contact for more information.

I instruct on piano and strings to all ages as it is my specialty. However I am also trained to teach beginner woodwinds: clarinet, recorder, and flute. I also teach music theory, aural training using solfege, and dictation.

I like to be very transparent with my availability. This can be seen on the schedule page. Please note my availability is subject to change (due to appointments, illness, etc.), and will not be updated on this website, but I will never book anything over existing students unless it is necessary and noted in advance. Please feel free to contact me!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is your rate?

My rate for classes is $70 per hour. I am fairly flexible with tuition payments, but I would ask parents / students to pay towards each month's tuition (i.e. 4 lessons in July paid in June). If there is any week you know your student will be absent, you can pay for just the number of lessons expected that month.

For those interested in a trial lesson, I only charge $25 for a half hour lesson, which is flexible depending on the number of instruments. Please note that I only hold trial lessons and make up lessons at my home on Sundays, but can make exceptions based on availability.

How long are lessons?

I do 30 minute, 45 minute, and 1 hour lessons, the hourly rate applied to each. If lessons need to be made up after being missed, they can be set on a separate date or back-to-back if I do not have any schedule conflicts.

What is your cancellation policy?

My cancellation policy is 24 hours in advance. In emergencies, such as medical emergencies or family emergencies, I understand as long as it is a few hours in advance. If the class is missed, I cannot guarantee a makeup lesson. Any more time in advance, I will definitely help schedule a makeup lesson. I do Sunday makeup lessons from my home.

Makeup lessons apart from regularly scheduled lessons must be made up in the same tuition month unless scheduled far in advance. (i.e. a missed lesson in March can only be made up in March). Please let me know if there are any questions about this.

If you have any specific situations that do not fit this policy, please let me know ahead of time.

How do you take payment for tuition?

I take many forms of payment including...

  • Zelle

  • Venmo

  • Cash

  • Check

Just let me know ahead of time so I can make sure you are sending/writing payments to the correct person!

Do you do in-home lessons and in-studio lessons?

I provide lessons in my studio located on a dead end off of Willow Grove Road in Westfield. For some students with specific requests, I will provide lessons in-home as long as they are within 10 minutes of travel from my home close to Tamaques park. I prefer to teach at my home studio as much as possible to give students more opportunities to take lessons. I am also unfortunately allergic to dogs and cats (although I do love animals!) so it is difficult for me to go into homes with pets. If you are close by, I highly recommend coming to my home studio (ask me for details and address) where I have an upright piano and all of my personal string instruments.

Do you teach outside of Union County?

Yes, but additional fees would be applied according to location if you are looking for in-home lessons. If you are interested in this, please ask me for more information regarding the specific fee I charge. I am located in Westfield on the Scotch Plains border, and I have a home studio where students are welcome to have lessons.

I am currently providing lessons in-person in Union County, as well as lessons over Zoom, Webex, Google Meet, and FaceTime.

Do you provide group lessons?

Due to the benefits of one-on-one instruction, I typically do not give group lessons. However, if this is a familial group lesson, it is a possibility. I would still strongly suggest individual lessons for each student, especially at a younger age. If students are interested in performing duets or small ensembles, these can be arranged on a case by case basis, just ask me for more information.

Can you teach brass/woodwind instruments?

Unfortunately, due to my small stature, I am not well suited to play most brass instruments. Like many of my colleagues, I am trained to teach but I cannot mirror for students. I also don't own any brass instruments, which is the main reason why I don't teach them. I know many other brass instrumental teachers if you need any help in finding the right fit! I do teach flute and clarinet in specific cases, but currently do not own either. I do teach recorder and own many. Please reach out if you have any further questions.
