TEACHING

I instruct on piano and strings to all ages as it is my specialty. However I am also trained to teach beginner woodwinds: clarinet, recorder, and flute. I also teach music theory, aural training using solfege, and dictation.

SCHEDULING

I like to be very transparent with my availability. This can be seen on the schedule page. Please note my availability is subject to change (due to appointments, illness, etc.), and will not be updated on this website, but I will never book anything over existing students unless it is necessary and noted in advance. Please feel free to contact me!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is your rate?

My rate for classes is $80 per hour. I am fairly flexible with how I receive tuition payments (i.e. Venmo or Zelle) , but I would ask parents / students to pay towards each month's tuition (i.e. 4 lessons in July paid in June). I create invoices at the beginning of each month for this very reason, and expect families to respect that I expect payment promptly so that they may hold those scheduled lesson spots. If there is any week you know you will be absent, you can pay for just the number of lessons expected that month, and please indicate that in an email or message to me.

For those interested in a trial session, I only charge $30 for a half hour trial session, which is flexible depending on the number of instruments. Please note that I typically hold trial lessons on Sundays, but can make exceptions based on availability.

How long are lessons?

I provide 30 minute, 45 minute, and 1 hour lessons, the hourly rate applied to each.

What is your cancellation policy?

My cancellation policy is 24 hours in advance. In emergencies, such as medical emergencies (hospital) or family emergencies, I understand as long as it is a few hours in advance. These will be honored in the next tuition month. If the class is missed, there is no refund.

I unfortunately do not give make-up lessons due to my availability, but please inquire as I occasionally get cancellations and may have a spot.

If you have any specific situations that do not fit this policy, please let me know ahead of time.

Do you provide in-home lessons and in-studio lessons?

I provide lessons in my studio located on a street off of Willow Grove Road in Westfield. My exact address is available upon scheduling a trial lesson. I no longer provide in-home lessons, only studio lessons.

Do you provide group lessons?

Due to the benefits of one-on-one instruction, I typically do not give group lessons. However, if this is a familial group lesson, it is a possibility. I would still strongly suggest individual lessons for each student, especially at a younger age. If students are interested in performing duets or small ensembles, these can be arranged on a case by case basis, just ask me for more information.

Can you teach brass/woodwind instruments?

Unfortunately, due to my small stature, I am not well suited to play most brass instruments. Like many of my colleagues, I am trained to teach but I cannot mirror for students. I also don't own any brass instruments, which is the main reason why I don't teach them. I know many other brass instrumental teachers if you need any help in finding the right fit! I do teach flute and clarinet in specific cases, but currently do not own either. I do teach recorder and own many. Please reach out if you have any further questions.
